Homes in Caterham and Oxted

Caterham is really two places. Caterham-on-the-Hill has its own shops, the interwar semis that make up a lot of the town's housing, and the newer developments that have filled in around them. Caterham Valley sits below, around the station and the town centre, with steep roads climbing between the two. Plenty of houses on those hillside roads have a sloping drive or a flight of steps to the front door, which never puts us off, it just shapes the quote. Oxted is a tidier proposition: a well-kept commuter town with a busy little centre and detached homes with proper gardens, the sort that keep a gardener honest. Between and around the two you've got Whyteleafe, Warlingham and Godstone, all normal territory for us.

The practical bits

If you're in Caterham, tell us which half: on the Hill or down in the Valley. The roads between them are steep and some are narrow, and that changes where the vehicle can stop and how far things get carried on a clearance. A photo of the front of the house is worth a paragraph here. The slopes matter for another reason too: shaded drives and steps green up fast and get properly slippery by winter, which is why pressure washing comes up so often in this patch. Parking near the two town centres and the stations can be busy on weekdays, so for jobs near the shops it helps to know the nearest sensible place to stop before the day.
